Kicking off 2018

Well, this was a long time coming.

I hadn’t seen Zoey since June of 2017. We met a few days before this and tried to catch up on everything that had happened over the last 8 or so months but that was near impossible. Nevertheless, we picked up right where we left off! Cue the first shoot of 2018.

We headed down to Canalside in Buffalo, where, strangely, I’d only shot once before. It was a rather cold day, perhaps 38°F (3°C) with a slight breeze. I couldn’t focus on the shoot because there were so many stories I needed to tell her. We chatted away a good chunk of time before getting down to business, but it definitely wasn’t wasted.

Here comes a fun part. We wanted to get to a rooftop, because, well, why not? After unlocking a door with one of Zoey’s boots (fun side story), we managed to get into a building, take the elevator to the top floor and find stairs to the roof. Unfortunately, we needed a key card to access the roof, which clearly we didn’t have. I inquired about getting to the roof but apparently, the rooftop lounge wasn’t in season. This just means we’ll have to come back!

On a more personal note, it’s an adjustment to be back in the States. I had gotten used to the beautiful location of the Sunshine Coast in Australia. The city of Buffalo is quite a different contrast to where I was. It actually is challenging my skills more by being back here. Beauty isn’t necessarily in a certain place.

Sometimes it’s in a moment.

Sometimes it’s in a person.

And with Zoey, well, if you can’t see her beauty, check again.
