Seeing The Buckhorn Wash Pictograph Panel, San Rafael Swell, Utah

Pictograph panels are a popular tourist attraction in many parts of Utah, and San Rafael has their own panel. It’s quite extensive, possibly more extensive than the ones I’ve seen in Capitol Reef. It’s quite the site and worth the 5 or 10 minutes stop as you head down the road to a hike! I always make an effort to stop at small attractions like this because they’re so short and they tell us a lot about the people who used to live here way back when.

The walls here are littered with pictures! I’ve never seen one that has had quite this many pictures and it’s actually quite breathtaking when comparing this wall with others I’ve seen. Many of these walls only contain a few images here and there and it’s still cool to see. But, this one has the goods. It’s just gorgeous! The light was shining right on the wall too, since it was earlier in the day. It was just a fantastic experience!

Look at the detail of these things. It’s just so darn cool!
Sensational.
I still am just amazed at how these are even created!

This wall is worth the stop, believe me! You’ll want to see these for yourself! It’s definitely cooler in person, but for those who can’t travel at the moment, I hope these pictures suffice!

Thanks for reading along! If you’re looking for more things to do in the San Rafael area, check out my hike on Goodwater Rim and stop and see the dinosaur track! I’m going to continue hitting it hard with San Rafael in the coming weeks. No signs of slowing down!

How have the weekly blogs been? Is that a better system over the erratic but sometimes more frequent blogs? I’m liking the system. I think it works a bit better with my busy schedule! I may interrupt my weekly Friday posts with a random post in between (I find that fun sometimes) but I wanted to get a feel for what YOU think! Let me know!

Parting shot:

Next blog: We’re getting back to hiking in San Rafael. Time for some slot canyons maybe?
