The Beta
The Panorama Trail is a 2.9 roundtrip loop with 262 feet of elevation gain located in Kodachrome Basin State Park, Utah. It features some beautiful wildflowers, breathtaking vista points, and fantastic desert rock formations. This trail is best used from March until November, but avoid hiking in the heat of the day during the summer months if able. Dogs are able to use this trail, but must be kept on leash. All waste must be packed out.

The trail is mostly packed sand. Good boots or sandals will definitely be adequate!
Need to Know
This hike feels longer than it actually is if you do it in the middle of the day. Trust my experience on this one! Bring water, apply sunscreen and layer up with long sleeves, hats, and sunglasses. It gets hot in the desert, even in April, and the sun is unforgiving. Bring a camera, as there are some beautiful vista points along the way!

The trail is known for a couple different overlooks, including the Fred Flintstone Spire, Hat Shop, Ballerina Spire, Mammoth Spire Overlook and Panorama Point. The trail is well marked, so you’ll know when you’ve reached one of the marked points!
Be on the lookout for other hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. All are able to use this trail!
Justin’s Suggestion
Make sure you bring water, sunscreen, and maybe even a small snack. It’s always nice to eat even a protein bar or granola bar on the trail! Keep your camera out and at the ready. There’s lots of places to take photos, and there are plenty of tall spires along the route. It’s crazy looking up at these huge formations!

Have fun and enjoy the hike! This is a great trail for all skill levels, and is definitely family-friendly and grandparent friendly. Beware of the hot sun, take precautions, and have a great hike!
